The “Tapijnkazerne” is a former military barracks in the Netherlands and after a thorough renovation this academic year put into use by Maastricht University. A custom work of art was made of the sun screens of the souterrain, with 22 portraits made by the famous Dutch photographer Robin de Puy. Given the great complexity of printing zipscreens durably, Printable's expertise was called in.
By using printed fabrics, Poly-Ned not only offered an aesthetically beautiful renovation solution, they also created eye-catching advertising space for the sponsors of Circuit Zandvoort. The underside of the roof is completely fitted with a printed and coated technical textile, produced by Printable. Since the circuit is situated close to the sea, the print will be exposed to salt, sand and sun. Our unique coating will protect the textile for years against a quick degrade of appearance and the adherence of salt crystals on the textile.
Both architects and municipalities see that our textile printed facades for car parks offer a perfect solution, balancing costs, maintenance and a great appearance. Depending on the design, the facade mesh fulfils various primary functions, ventilation, noise reduction, wind shields, etc.
A PES/PVC fabric facade as a flexible second skin around a building is one of the most cost-effective types of facades, as it can retain up to 80% of the heat from the sun. It’s a low cost solution compared to other facade claddings, and it offers a higher degree of customization as the fabrics can be printed with any pattern or design. They are characterized by their light weight, high durability, flexibility and resistance to different weather conditions.
Printable is involved in the world’s first “Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) binding” textile facade put into operation at the Hamburg ECE campus. Besides Printable’s print and PU-coating, this facade has an additional coating with nanotitanium oxide. The coating binds the harmful nitrogen oxides that pollute the air through car emissions. The facade not only binds nitrogen oxides, but also helps to reduce the CO2 emission of the building.
For the new office building of Zuiver Media, Poly-Ned installed a sun-resistant textile cladding, resulting in this clean corporate image. The printed facade membrane provides solar protection for the building, favouring energy savings and reducing operating costs. It also ensures the privacy of the occupants of the premises, while maintaining a good vision to the outside. Poly-Ned chose Printable to print the textile with our unique printing and PU coating technique.
The exposure of materials on trains require extreme robustness. Besides the hard conditions the textiles are exposed to, such as rain, wind and UV-radiation, it must also withstand the copper deposit created by the grinding of the train current collector against the overhead contact line. To remove this deposit from the materials, very aggressive cleaning methodes are needed. Our coating is dirt resistant and does not break in this challenging cleaning regime.
The central railway station of the city of Almere is one of the main hubs of the region. It will become even more important in the coming years, as Almere is growing and the regional public transport will be extended. It is not often that side-curtain technology is used on reefer trucks. However since the introduction of the Traxx™ system in 2006 we see an increasing demand for our printed products for this type of trailers. This beachside event tent in Knokke-Heist (Belgium) hosts the annual Cartoon Festival. The tent is printed by Printable. This tent not a typical example of our durability, since it will be used for only two months. Although... did you know that a lot of these materials are being recycled into other products that do benefit from our durable lifecycle for our printed textiles? PIA Automation opened their new plant in Bad Neustadt. A key visual aspect of the new building complex is the branded facade. The frontage showing the corporate identity and slogan 'We Automate Your World' on an 1.000 square meter mesh material that will be visible from a huge distance.

For Soproréal, a production facility of L'Oréal, some of the outdoor machinery needed to be protected against dust and more hidden from the eye. With a subtle pattern printed on this hard-wearing textile, you would hardly notice this is a textile solution.
For the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham (NEC), Base Structures delivered a 3-Dimensional fabric facade and printed over-cladding that are part of the revitalisation and redevelopment of the centre. The new design has 37 pyramid translucent structures with specially sandwiched panels between the pyramids as a series of vibrant colour panels. These colours were carefully designed and also used in the corporate identity. Being part of the permanent installation, obviously, the perseverance of colour is very important to NEC. The unlimited 10 years warrantee ensures it will stay in perfect condition for years to come.
Parking garages are enormous buildings that are being build in an efficient way and with low cost structures in mind. Often placed in central areas in town, architects are struggling to balance cost against the appearance of the construction from the street. This air trampoline in Appelscha is played upon by thousands of kids every year that will bend and fold the fabric. The coating stays flexible and will not crack, so no dirt can enter the textile and damage the print and make it look dirty. After many years of being scattered across more than a dozen offices in and around Boston, Partners HealthCare’s administrative employees are coming together under one roof and that needed a huge parking garage. Printable was asked to deliver the printed substrate for the facade based on the proof of durability on image and resistance to extreme weather conditions.
Château de la Barbinière in Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre is where design and refinement meet in an unspoilt countryside. The park of 13 hectares deploys its architecture in a natural and calm environment. Attached to the main building, ACS Production made this expansion with a textile facade. The design is in line with its surrounding. It is a clever solution to hide the technical/work area to visitors and keep the area looking pristine.
For Base Structures UK we have produced these unique sunshades for a private residence in the Middle East. In this production makes the print design is on the inside of the textile to create a unique experience and carry the interior design from the villa out onto the terraces on the outside. The outside of the textile is left white to reflect the sun and keel the terrace cool.

The new bus terminal at Zwolle train station is adorned with a beautiful sun sail, even if in the wet climate of the Netherlands one would probably say weather sail. The canvas is 70 x 13 meters. Grupo Logístico Arnedo is the leading national transportation company in Spain. With their Solidskin curtain siders fitted by Toldos Urca, their fleet of 240 trucks is well protected against the harsh Spanish sun and heavy roads. The dirt-repellent characteristics also mean that the company can reduce the cleaning program of the curtainsiders.
The Charleroi Danse Theatre was installed in 2014 and these shots were made in 2018. The facade architecture textile is characterised by its printed surface. We love this design of the facade of this school (Ecole Cour Lorraine) in Mulhouse France. The building has been fitted with our mesh fabric with a custom design printed on it. Since last year we have been releasing side curtains with famous masterpieces of the Dutch Rijksmuseum in The Netherlands.
After more than 8 years, SkyClean ordered new sets of side curtains. It was not really necessary but because of the fact that they changed their corporate identity and had an expansion of their fleet, SkyClean required the same proven quality which they are familiar with for so many years. As you can see, the white shows no dirt and is still clear in comparison to other side curtains that would not even make it through one year without visible and permanent wear and tear. The Fricke - Saphir Building in Bockel, Germany was renewed in 2013 and holds a retail shop for their products. The vulnerability and the exposure to nature were key in this project. Long time relationships between printer, confectioner and producer of the technical textile, lead to the right solution.
A surprising application of our robust textile substrates: the Casino Pleinair in La Ciotat near Marseille. This outdoor casino has amusing roofs that look like casino tokens. The roofs are printed on a closed substrate and coated. Our unique coating is able to resist the Southern France UV radiance without discolouring for more than 10 years.

We can hardly think of a better reference than being selected for our textiles for facade architecture of the Cité internationale de la tapisserie (Museum of Aubusson tapestry). Located halfway between Clermont-Ferrand and Limoges, this major centre for artistic craft and a skill dating back to the Middle Ages, the Aubusson tapestry was listed as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

Virpi Heybroek, een van de ontwerpers van het Nederlandse paviljoen voor de World Expo, is gefascineerd door textiel in architectuur. Voor haar master Architectuur onderzocht ze de mogelijke toepassingen van textiel in architectuur en deelde haar inzichten in een overzichtelijk verslag. Wij vonden dit een inspirerend onderzoek!
De toepassing van de huidige voorhanden zijnde UV-inkten voor de zogenaamde roll-to-roll printers op een doorlopend buigzaam PES/PVC-substraat voor duurzame buitenexposities is benedenmaats.
September 2017 - Is het logisch om te denken dat bij schuifzeil onderhoud een fullcolour schuifzeil vaker schoongemaakt moet worden dan een eenvoudig schuifzeil met alleen de bedrijfsnaam, website en een telefoonnummer? Dat lijkt een voor de hand liggende conclusie. Maar niet het beeld op het schuifzeil, maar de gebruikte techniek bepalen hoe frequent een fullcolour schuifzeil moet worden gereinigd.
Full colour schuifzeilen zijn indrukwekkende mobiele Billboards. Ze worden echter blootgesteld aan extreme weersomstandigheden en mechanische belastingen. Daardoor worden ze na één jaar al flets en kan de coating van het schuifzeil loslaten.
Poligenius Private Schule. Printable delivered the substrate for the sports hall of the Poligenius Private Schule. A prefabricated timber construction hall with all the advantages of the material: constructive, sustainable, economical, precise and lightweight. The light facade construction has a subtle pattern in the bright energetic green and text printed on the substrate. Overall the facade gives a powerful and pleasant appearance.
For swimming pool 'Binnenzee' in Noordwijk (Netherlands) our technical printed textures offer an aesthetical and practical solution. Besides the aesthetical purpose, the textile also reduces the noise for visitors that make use of the interior pools.
